Welcome to the website for the HABITs lab within the division of Counseling Psychology. Dr. Martin and her team are interested in individual, social, contextual, and cultural risk and protective factors associated with substance use and other health-related behaviors among emerging adults. Dr. Martin’s work has a particular emphasis on investigating alcohol and substance use among college students as well as the design and delivery of prevention and intervention efforts to reduce heavy and problematic college student drinking. Take a look at the bios of team members to discover more about our interests, check out our current research projects, recent presentations and publications, and feel free to contact Dr. Martin or a team member for more information.
Dr. Martin is accepting a student in 2021. Students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University at Albany and pursuing research related to health-related and addictive behaviors, particularly alcohol use among college students and young adults, should complete an application for our Ph.D. program and be sure to mention an interest in working with Dr. Martin.

University Undergraduates interested in joining the HABITs lab for credit or as a volunteer, please complete the HABITs Lab application found here:
