Welcome to the website for the HABITs lab within the division of Counseling Psychology. Dr. Martin and her team are interested individual, social, contextual, and cultural risk and protective factors associated with substance use and other health-related behaviors among emerging adults. Dr. Martin’s work has a particular emphasis on investigating alcohol and substance use among college students as well as the design and delivery of prevention and intervention efforts to reduce heavy and problematic college student drinking. Dr. Martin is accepting a student in 2019. Students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University at Albanyand pursuing research related to health-related and addictive behaviors, particularly alcohol use among college students and young adults, should complete an application for our Ph.D. program and be sure to mention an interest in working with Dr. Martin.
